Germaine Kruip & Maison Vervloet Artist & Atelier / Brussels
Science is opening doors. To new worlds, new insights, new knowledge. That was the conceptual starting point from which visual artist Germaine Kruip designed a physical prize for the winners of the Ammodo Science Award. In collaboration with the specialists of Maison Vervloet, she managed to create a symbol of appreciation that is very beautiful and has the potential to be part of a daily ritual in which the winners can celebrate their achievement over and over again.

Kim Boske
Artist / Amsterdam
According to artist and photographer Kim Boske, everything is in a constant state of becoming. By keeping an indigo vat alive in her studio in Amsterdam, she takes on the mission to master the old Japanese dyeing technique of working with indigo. It’s a fragile process that needs close attention because indigo is a living material that constantly changes and can also die. By embracing the interaction between the evolving indigo and her photographic work, she expands the Japanese mentality regarding craftsmanship to the level where it becomes art.
Shown at Unseen (NL), Centre photographique Rouen (FR) and Kamiyama (JP).

Rembrandt-Velázquez
Rijksmuseum / Amsterdam
Rembrandt van Rijn and Diego Velázquez never met. But the two masters of Dutch and Spanish painting in the 17th century had definitely similarities. The tender hand play that comes back in both of their works shows that both painters had similar ideas about the meaning of love and how to express it. In their thought process and techniques, they feel closely connected. This magical bond is translated by conservator Gregor Weber in a world-class exhibition at the Rijksmuseum that brings the two old masters together for the very first time.
